A legal disability imposed on a slave, such as the inability to vote, own property, or enter into a contract.  Any visible trace of slavery, such as racial discrimination in public education.  Any public or private act of racial discrimination that Congress can prohibit under the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
