(1) Any Police Officer may deliver to any service provider, list of any articles lost or stolen or required to be located by reason of any crime, with available details of their identification.

(2) If any such article comes to the notice of such service providers thereafter, he shall seek and ascertain the name and address of the person in the possession of such article and after detaining the property, immediately report such situation to the nearest police station.

(3) The service provider under sub-section (1) may also detain any person in the possession of such articles for a period not exceeding one hour until the Police arrives if he has sufficient reason to behave that such person is not giving his correct address.
